Happy New Year, everyone! Did you enjoy the fireworks?
(That's my NYE celebration, by the way - I sit in front of the TV and watch the New year celebrations in Sydney Harbour. The fireworks are unbelievable.)
Anyway, now that it's January 1st, NaNoFiMo is over for another year. I don't know how we all went - I know it's been pretty quiet around here, but maybe in amongst all the partying and celebration a few people managed to sneak over the line for a win? Whether you won or not, though, just by attempting NaNoFiMo, you did something a lot of people never do - you kept writing after the big November event known as NaNoWriMo.
Because this is just a December event, the forum here is about to get really, really quiet... as in, I'll keep checking back here every day for about the first week of January, but after that it's just going to be occasional checks to make sure everything is clean and tidy. If you want to keep writing in an online community, now is the time to start settling into your January home.
A couple of suggestions, also mentioned in the last Daily Reports thread:
Steve the WriMo Forum is starting twelve months of challenges with 'Just Write January'.
WriYe is in full swing, with writers working towards a number of words for the whole year. This is the successor to MilWordY, for people who might have heard of that event. You can also sign up for lower goals than a million words, of course. I think they start at somewhere around 50,000.
The Absolute Write Water Cooler isn't a 'challenges' site, but it's probably the best resource on the internet for learning about writing, editing and getting published. If you're at all serious about any of those things, join AW.
There's also a list of timed artistic challenges on Wikiwrimo.
Post any other suggestions of places to hang out in 2015 in this thread or the Daily Reports thread. I'll try to collect them all into this post.
